Orders

Online orders can only be amended up until the point of purchase. 

Once we receive an order, we work to get it processed and dispatched for delivery so you receive your order as quickly as possible. For this reason, we are unable to amend or cancel orders once they are placed. 

Always take the time to double-check your contact information and shipping address is correct as this cannot be changed once the order has gone through.

Both International and Domestic orders are dispatched with our shipping partner An Post. 

Once your online order has been processed for dispatch, you will receive an An Post Tracking Number in your Shipping Confirmation email.

This 13 digit Tracking Number (RA123456789IE) can be found within your Shipping Confirmation email.*

To check your shipping tracking, please click on the yellow ‘Track Package’ button in your email. Please note that updates can take up to 24 hours to register.

Once your order has successfully been completed on the website, you will automatically receive a Confirmation Email to the email address registered at the checkout.

If you placed an order and after 60 minutes have still not received a Confirmation Email, please double check the below:

  • Please check it is not hiding in any other folder in your email address (including spam)
  • Check to see if your order went through by checking your bank account for a transaction.
  • Check any other email addresses you may regularly use to see if it was sent there.

Preorder books and regular products cannot be combined in the same order as they cannot be shipped out to you at the same time.

When purchasing a ‘regular’ product online (eg. books, stationery, gifts, etc.) these are physically available and in-stock at the point of purchasing. 

Preorder books allow you to purchase a brand new book which will not physically be in-stock at the point of purchase. Once the preorder comes into stock and the publication date has arrived, your preorder will already be queued for dispatch ahead of other orders.

Shipping & Delivery

Once we receive an order, we will pick, process and pack it for dispatch as quickly as possible.

We will update your order status with a Tracking Number as soon as it has been handed over to our mailing partner at An Post.

You can track your parcel every step of the way by clicking on the Track Package button that can be found in your Shipping Confirmation email.

Average Delivery Times

Republic of Ireland: 1 -3 working days

Europe: 5 - 10 working days

Rest of the World: 10 - 15 working days

Delivery times may change during peak trading hours and are given as a guide line only.

Orders placed outside of the European Union may be subject to local customs and duties.

These duties and/or taxes are the responsibility of the customer and will need to be paid to your local customs office before receipt of your order.

These rates can vary by country and must be paid before the order is finally delivered to you. If you are unsure if your country is liable for duties or taxes, please check your local customs office for more information.

Returns & Refunds

You can return your online order for a refund for any reason provided the product is unopened, unused and in the original condition in which it was sent within 14 days of receipt. 

Simply reach out to us here to let us know you'd like to return your order and we will advise you on the next steps.

Once your return is logged with our team, we will give you the option to return your online order in an elected Bookstation store or via return shipping. In-store returns only available to Republic of Ireland customers

Please note that Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer.

This is in accordance with the Consumer Rights Act 2022 and does not affect your statutory rights.

1. Notify us

Please notify us within 14 days of receipt that you want to return your online order and include your Order Number in the message. (Eg. #12345)

We will then notify you of next steps to ship your order back to our central warehouse in Dublin or return it to an elected Bookstation store.*

Please note that Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer.

*(In-store returns only available to Republic of Ireland customers)

Exchanges are only available within the Republic of Ireland at our Bookstation stores.

We can only offer an in-store exchange where the value of the exchange is the same or higher than the online item being returned.

Exchanges are still subject to the same terms of our refund policy and the item must be in unused, unopened and re-saleable condition.

Only in Republic of Ireland

Customers in the Republic of Ireland can return their online orders to any Bookstation location once they have notified us of their wish to cancel within 14 days of receiving their order.*

Our staff can process a refund for your online order at the till-point.

*Online orders returned in-stores are still subject to the terms of our refund policy and the item must be in unused, unopened and re-saleable condition.

Please note that ONE4ALL, World Book Day Tokens and National Book Day Tokens are not accepted for online purchases.

National Book Tokens are currently not accepted online but can still be used in-stores at any of our 20 Bookstation locations.

Bookstation store vouchers cannot be redeemed online at this time.

If you have a Bookstation voucher, you can redeem this at your local Bookstation store.

Discounts & Promo Codes

If you have a Bookstation discount code, just apply it at the checkout in the Add Discount box.

Discount codes are case sensitive so please ensure you are typing or pasting the code correctly.

If you're code isn't working, the most common causes for this issue are:

  • Code was not entered correctly. Double-check that the discount code that you entered is in the correct case and contains no spaces.

  • The order is not eligible for a discount. Some codes can only be redeemed against specific products or collections. Please note that exclusion on discount codes may apply so please double-check the terms of the code against what is in your basket.

  • You've not hit the minimum basket amount. Some codes will require that you spend a minimum amount for the code to be redeemed against your order. Please double-check this on the terms where you got your code from.

  • The code is no longer valid. Some codes are only valid for a fixed period of time. Please check this on the terms where you got your code from.

If you signed up for our newsletter but can't find your discount code, please check the below for the most common causes of this:

  • The subscription to our newsletter is incomplete. If you have signed up to our newsletter you will still need to confirm your choices in order for the code to be issued. You will get an email to confirm your subscription. You will need to click on the Yes, I want to subscribe button and then the discount code can be issued.

  • Your code was sent but it's in your spam. Please double-check all folders in your inbox, especially folders that are labelled 'Spam,' 'Promotions,', 'Updates,' as your code could be hiding in there!

  • You may have already signed up previously. We offer 5% off your first order online to new subscribers. If you have previously signed up in the past, you will no longer be considered a 'new' subscriber and the discount code won't be issued.

  • Check all the email addresses you use. Check all the email inboxes you normally use, especially if you have autofill on your device! You may have unknowingly entered a different email.

Bookstation is a proud sponsor of a number of organisations with which we sponsor and/or donate, including the An Post Book Awards.

Unfortunately, we are not currently in a position to extend any new donations or sponsorships at this time but wish you the best of luck in your endeavour.

Independent Publishers

Congratulations on your achievement. We are great supporters of local talent and starting a career in writing is hard work!

We don't normally stock independently published books unless it is distributed through the correct channel with one of our existing publishers.

But if you feel your book could be the bestselling book of next year, contact us at the bottom of the page and we will share your details with one of our buyers. Please note that this does not constitute an agreement to stock the book and is used for evaluation purposes only.

Please be aware that our buyers will only reach out if they decide to make an exception.

If you've written a book but you don't have it published yet or don't know where to start, we suggest taking the below steps:

  • Get advice from The Irish Writers Centre who can help new authors with the most common publishing pitfalls and offer resources and guidance.
  • Contacting an Irish publisher or literary agent directly.
  • Consider self-publishing via platforms like Amazon KDP, IngramSpark, or local services likePrintMyBook.ie.

Bookstation does not offer publishing services.
